Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in 2000, with residency in Rheumatology at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA) between 2001 and 2003. He holds a Master's (2006) and PhD (2010) in Medical Sciences from UFRGS.
Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UFRGS since 2011 and in the Postgraduate Program in Medical Sciences at the same institution. He has coordinated the Rheumatoid Arthritis Outpatient Clinic of the Rheumatology Service at HCPA since 2006 and has been the technical responsible for the Rheumatoid Arthritis Reference Center of HCPA/State Health Secretariat of RS since 2008.
He was president of the Rheumatology Society of Rio Grande do Sul for the 2020–2022 and 2022–2024 terms. He is also a member of the Rheumatoid Arthritis Commission of the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology and of the Technical Chamber of Rheumatology of CREMERS.
