Dr. José Alexandre Mendonça is a rheumatologist, graduated from the Catanduva Faculty of Medicine (FAMECA), with specialization from the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology (SBR) and a Master's in Internal Medicine from PUC-Campinas. He holds a PhD in Articular Ultrasonography from Unicamp and completed international specialization at the Università Politecnica delle Marche, in Italy. He has been a full professor of the undergraduate medical course at PUC-Campinas since 1997, as well as a permanent lecturer in the institution's stricto sensu postgraduate program. He served as a visiting professor at FATESA EERP between 2013 and 2023 and maintains a private practice in Campinas. He coordinates the SBR certification in rheumatological ultrasonography, participates in scientific committees, and is a member of international groups such as PANLAR, GRAPPA, and OMERACT. He is the author of the books The Use of Articular Ultrasound in Early Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ultrasonography in Rheumatology – an extension of the physical examination, and Fundamentals in Ultrasonography in Rheumatology: a clinical practice approach.
